Common questions
Do I need an account?
No. Every feature works without one, and signed out nothing leaves your device. An account is only for carrying your handwriting between your own iPhone and iPad.
How do I sync my iPhone and iPad?
On each device, open Settings and sign in with the same method — the same email address, or the same Apple or Google account. Your handwriting, pages and notebooks follow you from then on. Your calendar events sync through iOS’s own calendar accounts, not through DayJournal.
My finger scrolls instead of writing (or writes instead of scrolling).
On iPad, Apple Pencil writes and your finger moves the page. On iPhone, your finger writes. To change it, open Settings › Writing and turn Finger also draws on or off. With a finger drawing, pinch with two fingers to move and zoom the page, or pick up the Pan tool.
How do I get to another date?
Scroll: the day, week and month views run straight on through time. To jump, tap the date in the header and pick one. The Today badge brings you back to today.
My events aren’t showing.
DayJournal needs calendar access to show your events. Check iOS Settings › Privacy & Security › Calendars, and in DayJournal’s own Settings › Calendars make sure the calendar isn’t switched off.
How do I add a page of paper to a day?
Open the day, and on its paper choose Add Page. A day can hold as many pages as you like, each blank, ruled or dotted — choose from the page’s ⋯ menu. Every page you’ve written on is listed in the Notes tab.
How do I delete my account?
Open Settings and choose Delete account. It permanently deletes your account and everything synced to it from our server. The handwriting on your devices stays where it is. See the privacy policy for the details.
